Hello, I'm Julie Marshall, Artist and Jewellery Designer. I believe that every object—and every beloved companion—deserves to be celebrated.

My creative journey began over 15 years ago as a predominantly self-taught jeweller and designer. While I’ve had the privilege of refining my natural talent through mentorships and studies at the renowned Birmingham School of Jewellery, my heart belongs to upcycling. My unique jewellery style was heavily influenced by my love of Steampunk art, as this was the start of using old and unusual up-cycled items. I started to design pieces incorporating salvaged clock mechanisms, broken jewellery, reclaimed precious and semi precious stones and recycled Silver and Gold. I shop and find unloved or discarded items like old silver spoons, thimbles, even sea-glass which is classed as beach rubbish, or any silver or gold that I could repurpose, meltdown and redesign into new unusual items. No two pieces of my jewellery collection are ever identical; they are intentionally designed to retain the beautiful traces and scars of their previous existence, celebrating history and charm.

As a mixed-media artist, my passion for materials extends beyond the bench. I work extensively with watercolour, pastels, colour pencils and graphite, specialising in highly detailed pet portraits that capture the unique personality and spirit of an animal.
It was this dual passion for quality materials—both wearable and usable—that led me to establish Art Bound. I constantly struggled to find artist-grade sketchbooks that were both distinctive and featured the high-quality papers I required (like Strathmore and Stonehenge). So, I started fabricating my own books. Today, Art Bound is dedicated to providing other artists with handmade, high-end journals that inspire creativity and stand apart from the ordinary.

Whether I'm crafting a custom ring from a vintage watch, rendering a faithful pet portrait, or binding a new art journal, my mission remains the same: to transform and inspire through unique design and meticulous craftsmanship.
